Emotions and Back Pain: What Is Your Body Trying to Say?

According to Louise Hay, physical pain is often the body’s way of expressing unspoken emotional energy. Back pain, in particular, can carry deep messages linked to emotional burdens, fear, and lack of support.Here’s how different areas of the back may reflect inner emotional states:

Upper Back - Often linked to feelings of lack of emotional support - feeling unloved, unappreciated, or carrying the weight of others' expectations.

Mid Back - Associated with guilt, stuck emotions, and “stuff we want to forget.” This area can hold pain when we suppress unresolved emotional memories.

Lower Back - Connected to financial fears, survival stress, or lack of trust in life’s support. When we don’t feel safe or secure, the lower back often reflects that tension.

By gently becoming aware of the emotional roots beneath the pain, the body can begin to relax and healing can start to flow from the inside out.

My Personal Healing Story

I discovered emotional healing at one of the lowest points in my life when chronic back pain had taken over everything.

I had tried countless therapies, spent thousands, and even faced the suggestion of surgery. Nothing brought lasting relief... until I was introduced to tapping and emotional wellness tools that helped me connect with the deeper emotional roots of my pain.

Through this gentle self-healing work, I began releasing emotional layers I hadn’t even realized were stored in my body - old anger, fear, guilt, and unspoken frustration. As I worked through these patterns with tapping, something shifted. My body started responding. The pain softened not through force, but through emotional release and inner awareness.

These practices gave me back a sense of connection, strength, and purpose. And now, as I continue my training in EFT and the Journey method, I feel deeply called to share what supported me - guiding others on their own journey toward emotional balance and natural relief.
